I was born in Gainesville, Florida on February 12. I lived in various places (Alabama, Colorado) until I was two, when I returned to Trenton to live near my mom's family. I attended Trenton schools for Kindergarten through 12th grade and I am still friends with several of the people with whom I graduated.
I went to UNF in Jacksonville for one year and I was not a huge fan. I transferred to Santa Fe Community College and finished my prerequisites so I could enroll in the University of Florida. I loved going to school at UF and I still miss it. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in English and a minor in Secondary Education. I continued through the ProTeach program and received my Masters of Education.
My first teaching job was at Williston Middle School. I absolutely loved teaching eighth grade there. After two years I began teaching in Trenton because it was so much closer to my home. I taught sixth grade for two years, and that was an experience! I enjoyed the kids, but I missed the maturity of older students and the upper level content. I moved to Chiefland High School and began teaching English and working with the Response to Intervention program. In my years at Chiefland High School I have taught 9th grade English, Critical Thinking, Credit Retrieval, English 3, Creative Writing, Reading, and AVID.
I am married with three small children. I love READING, volleyball, cooking, talking, and people. My favorite TV shows are Grey's Anatomy, Big Bang, and Modern Family. I also watch a lot of Sesame Street.
Whatever I'm reading at the moment is usually my favorite. A few of the all-time best books ever are Harry Potter, The Help, The Hunger Games Trilogy, View With a Grain of Sand, Witness, Tangerine, Night and many many many many many many more.
I am looking forward to the 2013-2014 year at CHS!
